St Austell Market House launches new

'Friends' programme!

The St Austell Market House is often described as the jewel in St Austell's crown, a marvellous old building dating from 1844. The building is Grade 2* listed putting it in the top 5% of important assets in the Country. Restoration is now badly needed and the Directors are, at present, working towards an application for up to £2 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the HLF require 10% of that to be funded locally and have therefore set up a “Friends Programme” whereby varying levels of donations can be made to help this vital project.

So, if you contribute £10 to the 'Friends' fund, you will, in effect be enabling us to get up to £90 to be drawn down from the HLF!

The Market House is now a 'Community Interest Company' and as such the restoration work will include not only space for retail tenants & markets but also space for community use. The large room at the front of the building was used as the Town Hall, maybe this could be become a large meeting room or exhibition space... what do you think?

There are lots of new things being planned for the Market House, including our Artisan and Produce Markets, so make sure you check out the events page or follow us on Facebook to be kept up to date with all the latest.
