As part of our ongoing plans to renovate and repair the market house, we are taking some initial steps to carry out essential works on a number of our unoccupied units and we'd love to keep you up to date with how it progresses over the coming months.
Currently a number of the units have suffered from the tell tale signs of being within a grade II* listed heritage building, in need of some TLC. As a Board of Directors we realise that to maximise the potential of this beautiful building and to ensure the building survives we must make these a priority.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the work. We anticipate the disruption will be kept to a minimum.
Over the course of the next few months, we will be undertaking and exploring the following:
Unit 8 (Pictured here) - COMPLETE
- Will have some work on it to remove the waste and tidy up. This will require a skip to be sited outside the front of the market house by the Museum during the work. Commencing on 12th August. UPDATED 08th September 2019: WORK COMPLETE & NEW TENANT NOW IN SITU
We have recieved quotes for:
- The refurbishment of Unit 20 - UPDATED 08th September 2019: TO FOLLOW
- The Removal of Units 15/16 - UPDATED 08th September 2019: DECOMMISSIONING IN PROGRESS/UPDATE 29th September 2019: Units now required for THI Contractors. Decommissioning postponed until after the THI works are completed later in the year.
- The regular maintenance/clearing of the Gutters and down pipes - UPDATED 08th September 2019: WORK ONGOING
All our regular units will remain open during this time.
Funding as ever, plays a huge part on how much we can do. Keeping the market house thriving day to day takes time, effort and most of our income. However, we are dedicated to breathing life back into this historic building and to create a community space for all. If you would like to help us do that and have funding experience or have an architectural background, then we'd love to hear from you.
