Teetotal Festival A Teetotal parade through the streets of St Austell culminating in the Market House where an ancient tea was provided. A further Teetotal tea took place in early 1858 but was thinly attended.

The Grand Indian Palace Bazaar A fancy fair and exhibition of electric light. The bazaar was perhaps the greatest novelty yet produced in St Austell. Organised to raise funds for the building of a St Austell Young Mens’ Christian Association in Vicarage Place. The Great Western Train line even put on special train fares for fares from all stations across Cornwall from Penzance to Plymouth. |

Fatstock Shows The first fatstock show was held in 1908. A silver cup awarded by the Hon T C Agar Robarts was awarded to the owner of the champion beast. The root crop show was held in the town hall and the was a butter making competition. |

Every Friday |
Market Day Friday was traditionally the market day, the ground floor was home to many butchers, upstairs was a butter market which during the Summer was covered with cabbage leaves to keep it cool! |
